Adams’ funeral is Saturday at 2 p.m. at Greater Grove Street MB Church.

Police were called to Adams’ home on Lake Hill Drive about 1:45 a.m. Aug. 22 about a possible home invasion and found her lying by the back door in a room adjacent to the carport of the home with an apparent single gunshot wound to the head.

According to police reports, witnesses said Adams, her boyfriend and another person were in the house when someone knocked on the carport door claiming to be the police. Adams’ boyfriend ran down the hall to another room and Adams went to answer the door.

The person on the other side of the door kicked the door twice, kicking it in on the second try. As soon as the door opened, the person opened fire, with one bullet hitting Adams. Nobody entered the house from outside.
