Only Lady Luck Casino & Hotel has yet to open a sportsbook venue in Vicksburg.

WaterView Casino will hold an official ribbon cutting event for their new sports book Sept. 6 at 10 a.m.

Ameristar casino officially cut the ribbon Friday morning on their new End Zone Sportsbook that includes team members accepting sports bets from a full service counter. Former Ole Miss and New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister was on hand for the event and had the honor of placing the first bet. Mayor George Flaggs Jr., as well as aldermen Alex Monsour and Michael Mayfield, also attended the event.

There are a couple dozen televisions located in the End Zone Sportsbook, according to Gerad Hardy, Ameristar Casino Hotel general manager.

“We’re super excited to say you’re standing in front of Vicksburg’s very first full service sports book,” Hardy said.

“Bets on,” sports book manager Key Martin said.

Flaggs indicated the sportsbook venue was not only the first full service sportsbook in Vicksburg, but also the biggest and best on the Mississippi River. He praised Ameristar for the role they have played in Vicksburg.

“Ameristar has been one of the best corporate sponsors of this city,” Flaggs said. “Whenever we have called up on Ameristar, they step up to the plate.”
