Richard Emmet “Mick” Miller Sr.

Funeral services for Richard Emmet “Mick” Miller Sr., are to be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, in the Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. E E Gibbs officiating; interment shall follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.  There will be a visitation held on Friday, Sept. 14, in the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m.

Richard Miller Sr., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 5, in his home following a brief illness. He was 93. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII, and was retired from Cooper Lighting.  He was a member of the Greater Mount Zion M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Gertrude Davis Miller Sr.; his wife, Louise Miller; his brothers, Harry Miller, Will Miller Jr., Charlie Miller, James A. Miller, Arthur J. Miller and Fred Miller, and his sister, Mary Branch.

He is survived by his three sons, Richard E. Miller Jr., of Pensacola, Florida, Gerald Miller and Michael Miller, both of Vicksburg; his two daughters, Renetta Miller-Thomas and Donna Miller-Moore, both of Vicksburg; his brother., the Rev. Robert L. Miller Sr., of Vicksburg; his three sisters, Ethel Miller of Long Beach, California , Daisy Gibson of Gardenia, California, and Rose Stanfield of Carson, California; six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
