Bill Mobley Sr.

Mr. Bill Mobley Sr., died on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. He was 80.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. He was born on Sept. 5, 1938, to his parents Luther Edwin Mobley, Sr. and Lorene McMillin Mobley.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. After his time in the service, he graduated from Commonwealth College of Mortuary Sciences in Houston, TX in 1961. He was then employed by Glenwood Funeral Homes for 53 years, from 1961 until 2014. He served as the President of Glenwood from 1977 until his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a former member of the Vicksburg Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Lorene Mobley, and his brother, Luke, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Mobley of Vicksburg; his daughter, Terry Brumfield (Harris) of Chicago; his son, Bill, Jr. of Vicksburg; and his three granddaughters, Alec, Meredith and Bizzy Brumfield all of Chicago.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at Glenwood Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Michael Fields and the Rev. Ashton Thompson. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Doug Huskey, Allan Leese, John Kamman, Joe Greer, Marlene West and Jeff McClendon. Honorary pallbearers will be Frances Hollowell, Mary Evelyn Trevilion, Charles McPhail, John Rogan, Carolyn and Wayne McKnight, Dan Mobley, William Wilmoth, Taylor Greene, Donna Elize and Doris Washington.
