Vicksburg public works director Garnet Van Norman said workers will be replacing the existing pipe and lowering it to improve drainage in the area. Problems with the pipe, he said, were causing water to back up on a portion of Ford Road and onto the nearby former Anderson-Tully property.

“The pipe that’s there is too small, and it will be replaced with a 60-inch or 72-inch pipe,” he said. “The pipe was buried 1.5 feet too high and wasn’t draining the area. When they replace the pipe, they’ll bury it deeper so it will drain properly.”
