Porter’s Chapel Academy is down, but not out, at the MAIS Class AAA South State softball tournament.

The Lady Eagles lost 7-0 to Silliman in their third and final game on Saturday, but won twice before that and advanced to the second day of play on Monday.

PCA will play in an elimination game Monday at 10 a.m. when the tournament resumes at Central Private School in Denham Springs, La.

PCA (19-8) will have to win five games back-to-back to come out of the losers’ bracket and win the tournament title. It can advance to the Class AAA state tournament, however, by winning twice and finishing in the top four.

In the first game Saturday, Hannah Embry struck out nine in a complete-game one-hitter as the Lady Eagles beat Adams County Christian 4-0. Kaylee Hinson went 2-for-2 with a run scored, and Storey Kirklin drove in two runs.

In game two, PCA scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning — the last three coming across on a hit by Anna Grace White — to beat Wayne Academy 7-6.

Sara Grace Daniels went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, and Katie Tillman scored two runs.
