A weekly recap of the performances of college football and NFL players from Vicksburg-area high schools
• Tennessee Titans cornerback Malcolm Butler (Vicksburg High) had 10 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one quarterback hurry in a 26-23 overtime victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
• Jackson State cornerback Alexander Shaw (Warren Central) had two solo tackles and an interception in the Tigers’ 21-16 loss to Alabama A&M.
• Grambling linebacker De’Arius Christmas (Warren Central) had nine total tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one quarterback hurry in a 22-16 loss to Prairie View A&M.
• Northern Colorado defensive back Paul Wilson (Vicksburg High) had two solo tackles in a 38-13 loss to North Dakota.
• Mississippi College running back Peter Harris (Porter’s Chapel Academy) carried the ball three times for 14 yards in a 63-42 loss to Valdosta State. Harris also had one solo tackle.
• Ole Miss offensive lineman Ben Brown (St. Aloysius) started at right guard in the Rebels’ 45-16 loss to No. 5 LSU.
• Belhaven linebacker Denarrius Noel (Hinds AHS) assisted on five tackles and had one-half sack in a 20-19 win over Howard Payne.
• Southern Miss wide receiver DeMichael Harris (St. Aloysius) rushed for a team-high 25 yards on two carries, and caught one pass for no gain in a 24-13 loss to No. 10 Auburn.
• Southern Miss offensive lineman Drake Dorbeck (St. Aloysius) started at right tackle in the loss to Auburn.
• Cornell College (Iowa) running back Patrick Brown (Vicksburg High) caught three passes for 27 yards in a 49-0 loss to Chicago.
• Central Arkansas safety Michael Ware (Warren Central) had eight total tackles and two pass breakups in a 34-31 loss to Sam Houston State.
• Middle Tennessee cornerback Chris Stamps (Warren Central) had one fumble recovery in a 25-24 win over Florida Atlantic.
