Mrs. Barbara J. Evans, 69, passed away on Oct. 3, 2018, at Merit Health River Region.

She graduated from Rosa A. Temple High School in 1968. She found her calling as an educator with the Vicksburg-Warren School district in 1986. She retired after 27 years of service.

Survivors include her husband, David C. Evans, Jr. of Vicksburg; daughter, Charcie (Lynol) Collins of Jackson; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at New Mount Elem Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, from 1-7 p.m.
