Navy Circle has been reopened by Vicksburg National Military Park officials.

According to information from the park, the popular site with its view of the Mississippi River near the Mississippi State Welcome Center off of Washington Street was reopened to all traffic Thursday.

Navy Circle was closed to traffic and pedestrians in November 2017 for work by the Vicksburg Bridge Commission to stabilize soil erosion in the in area of the old Highway Bridge.

Once the erosion problem was fixed, the park installed a new pedestrian fence along the overlook for visitor safety.
