Couples for Christ-MS is sponsoring a walk on the Old Mississippi River Bridge from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday to benefit Answering the Cry Of the Poor.

The California-based organization provides financial support for the education of children in the Philippines, Ecuador, Peru and Kenya, and the walk is an annual global event to raise funds for its shelter, child sponsorship and humanitarian relief programs.

Individuals and groups participate in the walk, giving donations or helping solicit funds for ANCOP.

According to its website, the organization’s mission is “to be a catalyst for human liberation, uplifting the material and spiritual welfare of the poor by empowering families and the youth through values formation and skills training for a better quality of life, and building communities of stewards for sustained development and social transformation through networking, business and cooperative development.”
