According to sheriff office reports, investigator Todd Dykes saw a small pickup truck with a Yazoo County tag driving on Oak Ridge Road and attempted to stop it. The man, who was alone in the truck, refused to stop for Dykes, starting a chase involving other deputies that went from Oak Ridge Road to Mount Alban Road and then Steve Road.

When the driver reached the end of Steve Road, he got out of the truck and fled on foot to a nearby wooded area. Deputies searched for the man but were unsuccessful.
