Animal hospital employee robbed at gunpoint

Vicksburg police are holding two men for questioning concerning a reported Monday night armed robbery at the Vicksburg Animal Hospital, 1918 Baldwin Ferry Road, Lt. Johnnie Edwards said.

According to police reports, the robbery occurred about 9:47 p.m. as an employee of the business was leaving. Two men came running up to the employee, put a gun in her face and told her to give up her purse. The men then fled on foot.

The case remains under investigation.

In other cases:

• Cantrell Anderson, 27, 124 Clear Creek Road, was arrested on a Mississippi Department of Corrections warrant for probation violation. He was arrested Monday after the warrant appeared during a records check by officers working a wreck on Interstate 20 and Indiana Avenue in which Anderson was involved.

He was also charged with driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurances. He was also served with several misdemeanor warrants.

• Jack Gaylon Kirkley, 28, 4122 Flowood Drive, Flowood, was arrested about 1:33 p.m. Monday at the Vicksburg Police Department on a warrant from Rankin County.

• A grass trimmer, blower, chainsaw, two grinders, and circular saw with a total value of $1,038 were reported taken about 10:01 a.m. Monday from a storage shed in 60 block of Grange Hall Road.

• Five 42-inch LG TVs valued at $350 each were reported taken Monday from the Motel 6, 4137 I-20 Frontage Road.

• Shots were reported fired about 12:52 a.m. Monday in the area of Hillside Drive and Buena Vista Drive.

Vicksburg police arrested the following people on misdemeanor charges:

• Dexter Lawville Paige, 32, 1802 South St., was arrested about 12:54 a.m. in the 2100 block of U.S. 61 North on a charge of contempt of court. He was also served with a warrant.

• Lashonda Latrice Andrews, 21, 1510 Bodley Road, was arrested about 10 a.m. at the police station on a charge of simple assault-creating fear.

• Melissa Winters, 46, 131 Alcorn Drive, was arrested about 10:17 a.m. at the police station on a charge of trespassing and disturbing the peace.

• Mary Jacqueline Powers, 23, 3708 Halls Ferry Road, was arrested about 11:17 a.m. in the 3700 block of Halls Ferry Road on five counts of contempt of court.

• A warrant was served on Amanda Denise Hardy Uzzle, 37, 2701 Halls Ferry Road.

• Jason Radu Durham, 36, 910 Bowman St., was arrested about 2:57 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Washington St. on charges of speeding and driving with a suspended license. He was also served with a warrant.

• Ann Marie Qualls, 49, 1214 Randolph St., was arrested about 3:21 p.m. in the 4200 block of Clay Street on charges of simple assault-creating fear and making harassing phone calls.

• Aleesha Keturah Smith, 24, 2502 Ken Karyl Ave., was arrested about 7:46 p.m. on Pemberton Square Boulevard on charges of driving with a suspended license, no insurance and expired car tag. She was also served with a warrant.

• Christopher Barlow Jones, 40, 1206 Garden Park Circle, was arrested about 9:56 p.m. in the 4100 block of Washington Street on a charge of trespassing.
