Photo Gallery: AmeriCorps NCCC-FEMA Corps Class 24B Graduation

AmeriCorps NCCC Southern Region graduated 171 FEMA Corps members following their 10-month service across the nation Thursday. The ceremony featured musical performances by members, guest speakers from the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS) and Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Assistant Administrator for Field Operations, John Rabin as the keynote speaker. FEMA Corps members were deployed to support disaster preparation, mitigation, response and recovery projects with FEMA such as the Kilauea volcanic eruption and Hurricanes Florence, Michael, Irma, and Maria.

Courtland Wells is a staff photographer at The Vicksburg Post. He is a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in Photojournalism. Following graduation, he started at The Vicksburg Post in the fall of 2016. Courtland has won numerous awards through the Mississippi Associated Press Managing Editors and the Mississippi Press Association. His work has also been featured in the New York Times and Washington Post as well as other national publications. Courtland is a member of the Vicksburg Young Professionals.
