Prep basketball roundup: Vikings smash Germantown; PCA teams cruise to wins

Warren Central put another mark in the win column by continuing its rampage through the Madison County portion of its schedule.

Jalen Glass and Jabari Bowman scored 16 points apiece, and Anthony Lumpkin added 12 as the Vikings beat Germantown 66-46 on Thursday. It was WC’s second consecutive win against a Madison school, after beating Ridgeland by 11 points on Tuesday.

Warren Central (2-2) opened an 18-point halftime lead against Germantown (0-4). Bowman scored nine points and Glass hit a pair of 3-pointers to spark the fast start.

Will Young led Germantown with 15 points and Hayes Crumpler scored 12. Del Javen Harried scored eight points for Warren Central.

The Vikings will host Crystal Springs Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the final game of the River City Challenge. The nine-game boys’ basketball event tips off at 9:30 a.m. with Winston Academy vs. Riverside and continues throughout the day. Admission is $10 and is good for all nine games.

(G) Porter’s Chapel 48, Mt. Salus 21

Brittnee Martin had 14 points and three steals to lead Porter’s Chapel Academy past Mt. Salus on Thursday.

Meghan Hinson and Kaylee Hinson scored six points apiece to lead a balanced effort for the Lady Eagles. Nine players scored and they totaled 16 steals as a team.

In the boys’ game, PCA beat Mt. Salus 39-19.

Porter’s Chapel will return to action on Nov. 27, when it heads to Rolling Fork to play Sharkey-Issaquena Academy.
