Farrish and Poe to wed Dec. 8

James Leon Farrish, III and Cassandra Denise Farrish of Edwards announce the engagement of their daughter Carmen Michelle Farrish of Zachary, Louisiana, to Kenyatta Poe of Clinton, the son of Lillie Thomas of Jackson.
Miss Farrish is the granddaughter of the late James Leon Farrish, Jr., Eva Farrish Ford of Vicksburg and the late Homer Ford, the late Joseph Floyd Lewis, Sr. and Will and Berteal Erves Rogers of Tallulah, Louisiana.
The groom is the grandson of Cleo and Mae Ella Thomas.
The bride-elect is a 2006 honor graduate of Vicksburg High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, varsity football cheerleader, Student Council, Key Club, Environmental Club, TSA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Just Say No, SADD, Gator Award recipient, and voted Miss VHS. She is a 2010 cum laude graduate from Tougaloo College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. While at Tougaloo, she was a staff writer for the Harambee newspaper, member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Pre-Alumni Council and a Resident Assistant. She is employed as a multimedia journalist for WAFB in Baton Rouge, Louisana.
The groom is a 2004 graduate of Callaway High School in Jackson, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta math club, Sons of the Sphinx, the yearbook committee, Prom King 2004, and Salutatorian. He is a 2008 cum laude graduate of Tougaloo College where he received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology and a 2009 honor graduate of Mississippi College where he received a Master’s in Medical Science Degree. While at Tougaloo, he was a member of the NAACP, Pre-Health Club, Pre-Alumni Council, and Tougaloo Ambassadors for Meritorious Scholars (T.A.M.S.). He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. where he served as Vice-President and Treasurer. In 2014, the groom-elect earned his Associate’s Degree in Nursing. He is employed as an RN at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
The wedding will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 8, 2018 at Woodworth Chapel at Tougaloo College in Tougaloo.
