Funeral services for Jimmy Rogers Bright were held on Saturday, Nov. 24, in the Pleasant Valley M. B. Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Edmond E. Gibbs officiating; interment followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Jimmy Bright passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the Merit Health River Region Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was 60.
He had worked as a maintenance engineer at Tyson and was a member of the Pleasant Valley M. B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Albert Bright II and Ellen Douglas Bright, and a son, Cory Montrell Cook.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie Gibbs Bright of Vicksburg; his son, Jason Alexander Bright of Jackson, his two daughters Jacquelyn Renae Bright of Jackson and Katrina Antionette Cook of Mesquite, Texas; his four brothers, Wali Accam Aziz and Silas “Lil Man” Albert Bright III, both of Vicksburg, and James Clyde Bright of Belfair, Washington; his four sisters, Eddie Lee Bryant, Peggy Winters and Kathy Bright, all of Vicksburg, and Brenda E. Bright of Biloxi, and five grandchildren.
