Thanksgiving wreck involving teens under investigation

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle accident early Thanksgiving morning that injured two teens.

According to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, deputies responded to a call at 12:23 a.m. Thursday involving a rollover accident in the 5600 block of Gibson Road. When first responders arrived on scene, they found a Nissan Altima flipped on the north shoulder of the road.

According to Pace, two male occupants, a 17-year-old and 16-year-old, were found conscious and trapped in the vehicle. Units from the Vicksburg Fire Department, as well as county fire units, arrived and extracted both occupants. Both were initially transported to River Region Medical Center with serious, but what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The 16-year-old driver was later transported to University Medical Center in Jackson.

Pace said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the wreck and the case will be turned over to county youth court.
