John Eldridge Harper

John Eldridge Harper of Brinkley, Arkansas, formerly of Vicksburg, passed away on Monday, at the age of 95.

He served a tour of duty in the US Army during WWII, and was stationed overseas in Iceland. His community involvement included, membership of 50-plus years in both the Lions Club, and Masonic Lodge, and a number of years in the Brinkley American Legion and Vicksburg VFW. For 84 years John was a faithful member of the Baptist Faith, including the First Baptist Church in Vicksburg and later in Brinkley. During those years, he served 67 years as a deacon and in the capacity of Sunday school teacher, and member of Personnel and Finance committees.

Survivors include wife, Frances Clifton Harper; son, James Harper; daughters, Jeannette Williams (Jack), and Marty Harper; sister, Adriene Campbell; four grandchildren, Jamie (Hardy) Pittman, Daryl (Daphne) Harper, Dan (Sarah) Williams, and Kelly (Aaron) Krause.

Visitation is Wednesday, 5-7 p.m. at Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home. Services are Thursday at 11 a.m., at Brinkley First Baptist Church; burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home. Guestbook/obit/www.bobnealandsons.com
