James Howard Pickens

James Howard Pickens died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Frank and Brenda Graves on Lake Claiborne near Port Gibson. He was 67.
Mr. Pickens was a 1969 graduate of Port Gibson High School and attended National Hardwood Lumber Association in Memphis, Tennessee, and later joined the United States Marine Corps. After his training at Paris Island, South Carolina, he was stationed in Okinawa. He was employed by Pickens Brothers Lumber Company until moving to Florida to begin his own restaurant franchise business. He was truly a hard worker, and was able to retire and travel by RV, visiting almost every state. He was a member of Lorman Baptist Church.
Mr. Pickens was preceded in death by his parents, James and Doris Pickens; grandparents, James and Juanita Manning and Samuel Fred and Bess Pickens. Survivors include his precious granddaughter, Presley Catherine Pickens and her mother, Cassidy Lyons Pickens, both of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; a sister, Brenda Pickens Graves (Frank) of Port Gibson.
A visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, from 1-3 p.m., at 2112 North Lake Claiborne Road, Port Gibson.
