Betty Everett Hearn

Betty Everett Hearn passed away Dec. 4, 2018, at home at the age of 92.

She was the daughter of W.H. and Ursie Penley. She was born and reared in Vicksburg. She worked in retail sales and for the Vicksburg Police Department for many years. She was one of the first “Meter Maids” hired in Vicksburg.

Ms. Hearn was the widow of R.L. Everett Jr. She was currently married to J.W. Hearn, also of Vicksburg.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Bob Everett and his wife Laurelie of Brandon; daughter, Sheila Franco and her husband Sammy of Oxford; three granddaughters, Jill Everett Beam (Shelby) of Southaven, Casey Franco Glanzer (Michael) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Emily Everett McLarty (Andrew) of Sewanee, Tennessee; grandson, Lee Franco of Richmond, Virginia; six great grandchildren, Kelsi Thomas, Caleb Owens, and Conner Owens, all of Southaven, Sanders Michael Glanzer and Claire Penley-Glanzer, both of Birmingham, Alabama, and Waverly Ann McLarty of Sewanee, Tennessee; brother, Sonny Penley of Vicksburg; and two sisters, Pat McNair of Ridgeland and Belle Shipley of Montreat, North Carolina.

Ms. Hearn donated her body to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 14, at Christ Episcopal Church in Vicksburg. Refreshments will be served in the parish hall immediately following the service.
