Motorists traveling along Interstate 20 westbound across the Mississippi River Bridge could find themselves in backed up traffic congestion as the Mississippi Department of Transportation does maintenance in the area.

Westbound traffic delays were reported Wednesday afternoon on I-20 as crews did maintenance on the bridge.

Calls to Jason Scott, public information officer for MDOT, were not returned Wednesday to find out specifically what type of working is taking place on the bridge or when the work might be completed.

According to the MDOT website, the right lane of I-20 westbound will be impacted Dec. 20 from 9 a.m. to approximately 4:30 p.m. as crews complete road work-lighting on the bridge.
