Church burglar sentenced to drug court

A Rolling Fork man has been referred to the 9th Circuit District Drug Court after a sentencing hearing following his guilty plea to nonresidential burglary.
Brandon McDaniel, 26, 1267 Lyndale Road, Rolling Fork, was arrested Dec. 20, 2017, and charged with five counts of burglary one count of felony malicious mischief. Two of the charges included the burglary of the Wilderness Baptist Church and the event center.
In a Dec. 17 sentencing order, Circuit Judge M. James Chaney withheld acceptance of McDaniel’s plea and sentencing, except for his fines, fees and restitution, and placed him under the supervision and jurisdiction of the drug court for a period not to exceed five years.
He ordered McDaniel to pay $2,609.50 in fines, fees, restitution and costs, and to participate in a court-ordered drug treatment program.
In other cases:
• A Vicksburg man was arrested Monday on a warrant from the Mississippi Department of Corrections, Vicksburg police Lt. Johnnie Edwards said.
Brandon Dax Freeman, 51, 171 Freeman Lane was charged in the warrant with probation violation.
• A electric heater valued at $40, Kool-Aid drinks and cough drops were reported taken about 8:31 a.m. Wednesday from a home in the 2600 block of Roosevelt Street.
• Shots were reported fired about 4:05 p.m. Wednesday at Locust and Mundy streets.
• Shots were reported fired about 6:22 p.m. Wednesday at Jefferson and Adams streets.
• Shots were reported fired about 9:49 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Buena Vista.
• Shots were reported fired about 10:14 p.m. in the Zollinger Hill area.
