Aniya Sanders scored 33 points, freshman Alaila Bracey added 12, and short-handed Warren Central beat Wingfield 56-47 to advance to the winners’ bracket in the girls’ Pepsi/JPS Holiday Tournament.
The Lady Vikes (5-5) only had six players available due to absences and some midseason roster turnover. Sanders picked up the slack by pouring in 20 points in the second half to help them break a three-game losing streak. They also beat Wingfield (2-10) for the second time this season.
Warren Central will play again Thursday at 4 p.m. at Forest Hill, against an opponent to be determined by the outcome of a game earlier Thursday.
