June Irene Quidor

June Irene Quidor (Allen) of Vicksburg, passed away on Dec. 20, at the age of 67.

The nearly 5-foot tall tornado of spitfire and moxie worked in the Sheriff’s Department for 22 years and was known as one of the only women who could back former Sheriff Paul Barrett into a corner and give him hell.

She and her late husband did something that only a few special couples choose to do: they adopted two children, whom they encouraged and supported from the moment they brought them home from the hospital as infants and continued to do so until adulthood, even refusing to let one of them quit taking piano lessons every single time he wanted to — a gift for which he is, in hindsight, unabashedly grateful.
