Kings Center basketball
The Kings Empowerment Center will hold registration for its 5-on-5 intramural youth basketball league from Jan. 2 through Jan. 25. The league is for players in grades 4-12.
The registration fee is $150 per team, and forms are available at the Kings Center, 224 R.L. Chase Circle.
Rosters are due on Jan. 25. The season will run from Feb. 2 through April 13, with games played on Saturdays.

Chill in the Hills 10K
The 11th annual Chill in the Hills 10K run and race walk is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 12 in downtown Vicksburg. The race will begin at 8 a.m. at Martin’s at Midtown on Belmont Street.
The entry fee is $25 for the run and 5K race walk. There is no charge for the children’s 1-mile fun run. Online registration is available at raceroster.com/events/2019/19106/chill-in-the-hills, and for more information contact Anna Sanders at 601-636-5703 or gracecc@live.com.
The Chill in the Hills 10K is a fundraiser for Grace Christian Counseling Center and is a Mississippi Track Club Grand Prix race.
VGSA registration
Registration for the Vicksburg Girls Softball Association’s 2019 spring season will begin on Jan. 7 and continue until Feb. 9.
The registration fee is $60 per player, or $50 for families with more than two players. The league will include five age divisions for players ages 4-16. Registration forms are available at 601 Sports.
There will be a coaches and umpires meeting on Feb. 18. Practices will begin on Feb. 23 and the season on March 23.

RCB scholarships
Applications are now being accepted for the 2019 Red Carpet Bowl scholarships. The $500 scholarship is open to graduating seniors at Warren Central, Vicksburg High, Porter’s Chapel Academy and St. Aloysius, and forms are available from guidance counselors at all four schools.
Students should mail the forms; a list of all extracurricular activities; an unofficial transcript; and a 500-word essay on why the scholarship is important to them to: Dr. Robert M. Abraham, 3038 Indiana Ave., Vicksburg, MS 39180.
The deadline to apply is Feb. 28, 2019.
Hinds baseball showcase
The Hinds Community College baseball program will host its annual Winter Baseball Showcase on Saturday, Jan. 19 at Joe G. Moss Field in Raymond. The showcase is open to players in grades 9-12, and the cost is $100 per player.
Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 19. No money will be accepted until the day of the showcase, but players can download and fill out the registration forms at sports.hindscc.edu to speed up the registration process on the day of the showcase. All players must have a current physical and bring their own cleats, shoes and equipment.

Alcorn alumni weekend
Alcorn State University will host a basketball alumni weekend Feb. 8-9 in Lorman. The weekend will include a reception for former men’s and women’s basketball players and an alumni game before the Lady Braves and Braves play Jackson State on Feb. 9. Former student-athletes and coaches can register by filling out a questionnaire at alcornsports.com.
