Make 2019 better for you and others

Published 7:38 pm Tuesday, January 1, 2019

It’s a clean slate; a blank page. Time to write a new chapter in the book of your life. You can use whatever cliché comes to mind in describing the New Year, but 2019 is a new opportunity for all of us.

It’s a chance to make up for lost time.

A chance to do what we’ve always wanted to do instead of putting it off and saying “someday.”

A chance to be better than we were in 2018.

It’s a chance to be inspired.

A chance to make our community better in your own way, rather than complaining about what’s wrong with our community.

That’s right. While we each have a chance to make our own lives better than a year ago, we can also be inspired to make Vicksburg a better place in the process.

There are so many reasons why Warren County is a great place to live and raise a family, but each of us can make it even better.

And we can be as dedicated or committed on several levels to bettering our community.

Some of the easiest and most rewarding ways to improve our community is volunteering for a nonprofit.

Giving your time that will help those less fortunate is incredibly rewarding individually and for the person being assisted. There are so many organizations locally that are seeking and need volunteers, tutors for students, or donations of unwanted items.

Clean out that closet and give clothing to the local Salvation Army. There are so many in our community who would be grateful for those items.

I know I plan on doing more personally in giving back to the community.

But no matter what you decide to do in 2019, it won’t matter much if you don’t put God first in your life.

Have a great 2019 and make this the best year of your life.
