Warren Central soccer splits with Florence

Warren Central’s soccer teams began their tune up for the playoffs by splitting a pair of games against Florence on Tuesday.
Tony King and Shamar Lott each scored one goal as the boys’ team beat Florence 2-1. Brandon Gilliam had an assist as the Vikings (9-4-3) won their second straight game.
The Lady Vikes (9-5-2), meanwhile, lost 1-0 as Florence (13-2-5) converted a late penalty kick.
Warren Central will finish the regular season with a girls-boys doubleheader Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Terry. Both teams will then play Tupelo in the first round of the MHSAA Class 6A playoffs next week.
The Lady Vikes will host Tupelo Monday at 5:30 p.m. The Vikings will go on the road to Tupelo in the boys’ playoffs Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
