2 more candidates file papers to challenge supervisors

Two more challengers filed paperwork with the Warren County Circuit Clerk’s office this week, seeking seats on the Warren County Board of Supervisors.

James “Jim” Stirgus Jr., filed qualifying paperwork to run as a Democrat in the District 3 Supervisors race. He is the second Democratic challenger to seek the position held by incumbent Democrat Charles Selmon. Shawn Jackson filed her paperwork two weeks ago as a Democrat seeking the District 3 seat.

Marvin Joe Wooley filed as an Independent challenger to the District 5 Supervisor seat held by long-time incumbent Richard George, who is also an Independent in the race. George is seeking his seventh term on the board.

Ken Harper also filed qualifying paperwork this week as a Democrat, seeking the county prosecutor position held by incumbent Ricky Johnson.

Candidates have until 5 p.m. March 1 to file their qualifying paperwork.

Candidate information and forms are available on the Secretary of State’s website or at the Circuit Clerk’s Office.

Primary elections will be held Aug. 6, with a runoff set for Aug. 27, if necessary. The general election will be held Nov. 5 and the possible runoff Nov. 26.
