Les Soeurs Charmantes Social and Civic Club honors debutantes

The Les Soeurs Charmantes Social and Civic Club presented 17 debutantes Saturday night during the club’s annual ball. The event was held at the Vicksburg City Auditorium and the theme for the evening was “Constellation of Stellar Stars.”

This year’s Les Soeurs Charmantes Social and Civic Club Souvenir Booklet was dedicated to the club’s active charter members, which included Helen Bell Bowman, Gwendolyn Lee Brown, Beverly Jean Miller Gaskin, Shirley Coleman Harris, Willie Mae Hunter Harrison, and Carolyn Sue Strothers.

Also, serving in various roles for the club are Leah Sullivan, president-salute to debutantes; Lisa Johnson, mistress of ceremonies; Shirley Harris, pianist; Shirley Smith, debutante presenter; Dr. Kenya Gaskin-Waltz, choreographer; Deborah Potts, debutante co-chairperson, and Carolyn Bradford, debutante chairperson.

Other program participants included Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs, Jr., Warren County Supervisor Charles Selmon, Gerald Miller, soloist and Morgan Sullivan, escorts’ dance choreographer. Cadet Command Sgt. Maj. Marquis D. Martin and Cadet Master Sgt. Keelan McClodden served as JROTC escorts.

Debutantes

• Keanna Ladadra Abraham, a senior at Vicksburg High School, is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Kevin (Benita) Abraham. She was escorted by Christopher Albert, Jr., the son of Mr. Christopher Albert, Sr. and Ms. Alberta Albert.

• Ja’Khalah Chantel Natasha Brown, a senior at Vicksburg High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart (Shantelle) Thomas. She was escorted by Robert Jones, Jr., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Stephanie) Jones, Sr.

• Shuniya Gwenshae Burks, a senior at Warren Central High School, is the daughter of Mr. Shunta Burks and Ms. Minikka Moore Turner. She was escorted by Alaric Vaughn, Jr., the son of Mr. Alaric Vaughn, Sr. and Mrs. Shantay Vaughn Thompson.

• Kadameria Daidreon Marie Caples, a senior at Vicksburg High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis (Kimberly) Judge. She was escorted by Jeremy Miller, the son of Ms. Cynthia Bentley.

• Calvi Eugenia Cattlin, a senior at Warren Central High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin (Lorhetta) Cattlin and Mr. and Mrs. James (Shirley) Ware. She was escorted by Chance Anding, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Armaan (Yolanda) Anding.

• Jordan Meon Davis, a senior at Vicksburg High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus (LaSandra) Davis. She was escorted by Antonio Thompson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Macon (Tasha) Thompson.

• Ashleigh Nicole Green, a senior at Vicksburg High School, is the daughter of Mr. Ramone Smith and the Late Cynthia Green. She was escorted by Alston Harris, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence (Lillian) Harris.

• Jerrica Jaylyn Dee Hill, a senior at Warren Central High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. (Hattie) Hill. She was escorted by Khari Holt, the son of Mr. Derrick Holt and Mrs. Consuelo Patterson.

• Dymand Danielle Johnson, a senior at Madison Parish High School in Tallulah, Louisiana, is the daughter of Mr. Londell Johnson and Ms. Deniece Levi. She was escorted by Jamie Strange, Jr., the son of Mr. Jamie Strange, Sr. and Mrs. LaShonda Wilkerson.

• Kelsey Michelle Lockridge, a senior at Warren Central High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher (Khelli) Lockridge. She was escorted by Nicholas Strong, the son of the Late Mr. Kenya Johnson and Ms. Lashanta Strong.

• Machia LeighAnn Lumpkin, a senior at Warren Central High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Charles (LaToya) Lumpkin. She was escorted by Adarryll Dent, Jr., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adarryll Dent, Sr.

• Theresa Marie McGowan, a senior at Vicksburg High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Lisa) McGowan. She was escorted by Darrion Howard, the son of Mr. Andre Welch and Ms. April Stone.

• Alyshia D’Shay Moore, a senior at Vicksburg High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony (Tomeka) Moore. She was escorted by Eddie

Howard, III, the son of Mr. Eddie Howard, Jr. and Ms. Lora Gray.

• Taylon Alyssa Rowell, a senior at Vicksburg High School, is the daughter of the Late Dr. Thaddeus Rowell and Mrs. TeAndrea Rowell. She was escorted by Gregory Stewart, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walker (Jessica) Williams.

• Destiney Nicole Swartz, a senior at Warren Central High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Amy) Swartz. She was escorted by Jalen Lumpkin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony (Cassandra) Lumpkin.

• Andrea Michelle Williams, a senior at Vicksburg High School, is the daughter of Mr. Carl Williams and Ms. Ellen Carson. She was escorted by Antonio Calvin, Jr., the son of Mr. Antonio Calvin, Sr. and Ms. Latoya Carson.

• Keidria Deuna Winchester, a senior at Vicksburg High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel (Dendria) Winchester. She was escorted by Roderick Crowell, Jr., the son of Mr. Roderick Crowell, Sr. and Ms. Daphanie Jenkins.

About Terri Cowart Frazier

Terri Frazier was born in Cleveland. Shortly afterward, the family moved to Vicksburg. She is a part-time reporter at The Vicksburg Post and is the editor of the Vicksburg Living Magazine, which has been awarded First Place by the Mississippi Press Association. She has also been the recipient of a First Place award in the MPA’s Better Newspaper Contest’s editorial division for the “Best Feature Story.”

Terri graduated from Warren Central High School and Mississippi State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations.

Prior to coming to work at The Post a little more than 10 years ago, she did some freelancing at the Jackson Free Press. But for most of her life, she enjoyed being a full-time stay at home mom.

Terri is a member of the Crawford Street United Methodist Church. She is a lifetime member of the Vicksburg Junior Auxiliary and is a past member of the Sampler Antique Club and Town and Country Garden Club. She is married to Dr. Walter Frazier.

“From staying informed with local governmental issues to hearing the stories of its people, a hometown newspaper is vital to a community. I have felt privileged to be part of a dedicated team at The Post throughout my tenure and hope that with theirs and with local support, I will be able to continue to grow and hone in on my skills as I help share the stories in Vicksburg. When asked what I like most about my job, my answer is always ‘the people.’
