Cannons night at Newk’s
The Cannons 7U baseball tournament team will host a fundraiser night at Newk’s Eatery on Pemberton Drive on Feb. 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. Ten percent of all sales during the night will go to benefit the team, and donations are also welcome.
Run Thru History
Registration is now open for the 40th annual Run Thru History, a 10-kilometer run, 5-kilometer race walk and 1-mile fun run in the Vicksburg National Military Park.
This year’s race will be held Saturday, March 2, at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $25 for the run and walk. The fun run, which is for children ages 12 and under, is free. The entry fee is $30 after Feb. 26.
Awards will be given in each age group, and an after party will be held at race headquarters at the Hampton Inn across the street from the VNMP.
Runners and walkers can register online at runthruhistory.org, or in person at the Purks YMCA, at 267 YMCA Place.
Zeke West Bass Tournament
The 11th Annual Zeke West Memorial Team Bass Scholarship Tournament is scheduled for March 2 at Lake Bruin State Park. This fishing tournament, hosted by the Tallulah Bass Club, begins at 6:30 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m.
The registration fee is $100 per boat, with an optional Big Bass entry fee of $10 per person. First place is a guaranteed $1,500 prize, and additional prizes will be paid for second through fifth places based on the number of entries. All fishermen will be fed after the tournament and door prizes awarded. Fishermen are required to have live wells and running lights inspected.

RCB scholarships
Applications are now being accepted for the 2019 Red Carpet Bowl scholarships. The $750 scholarship is open to graduating seniors at Warren Central, Vicksburg High, Porter’s Chapel Academy and St. Aloysius, and forms are available from guidance counselors at all four schools.
Students should mail the forms; a list of all extracurricular activities; an unofficial transcript; and a 500-word essay on why the scholarship is important to them to: Dr. Robert M. Abraham, 3038 Indiana Ave., Vicksburg, MS 39180.
The deadline to apply is Feb. 28, 2019.
EMCC cheerleading camps
East Mississippi Community College will conduct college prep cheerleading clinics on March 3 and April 7. Both Sunday afternoon clinics will be held on the Scooba campus and are open to male and female cheerleaders. The clinics begin at 1:30 p.m. and are scheduled to last two hours. The $10 fee for the clinic and signed participation waiver form are due during registration the day of the clinic.
