Carl Francis Finney

Funeral services for Carl Francis Finney, 89, of Vicksburg, are at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at Glenwood Funeral Home. He died Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at Merit Health, Vicksburg. Burial will be in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 5–7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at Glenwood Funeral Home, Vicksburg.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, he graduated from West High School and Vanderbilt University with a B.S. in chemical engineering. In 1952, he married his childhood sweetheart, Gleneve Wolfe. Carl served in the U.S. Army from May 1956 to April 1962 in the Air Artillery Defense and was honorable discharged as a corporal. After discharge, he made his home in Chattanooga, Tennessee, for 20 years before moving to Vicksburg in 1972. He retired as a Chemical Engineer from Mississippi Chemical in 1995. He was an active member of the Vicksburg Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gleneve “Neve” Finney; his parents, William H. Finney Sr. and Olga Marie Dauscha; one brother, William H. Finney Jr.; and two sisters, Anna Marie Seale and Sue Elizabeth Grimes; and a grandchild, Stacy Renee Allen.

Survivors include two sisters, Olga Marie Smith from Tullahoma, Tennessee and Dorothy Jean Finney from Nashville, Tennessee; his children, two sons, Michael W. (Virginia) Finney of Vicksburg, and Robert C. (Rita) Finney of Weatherford, Texas; three daughters, Cynthia M. (Barry) Nash of Vicksburg, Debra F. (Jim) Allen of Greenville, and Patricia M. (Edward) Watkins of Montgomery, Alabama; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Brother Larry Macomber will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Carl Nash, Michael Wayne Finney Jr., Jonathan Matthew Finney, Joseph Alan Nash, James Nathan Bedford Allen, Jimmy Lynn Allen, Barry Alan Nash, and Edward Joseph Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will be William Joseph English and Walker Wolfe Finney.
