Three elementary schools within the Vicksburg Warren School District were recently recognized with value-added awards from the Program of Research and Evaluation for Public Schools, Mississippi’s only statewide educational consortium.
Bovina, Bowmar and Redwood elementary schools were honored during the PREPS Education Partnership Conference awards luncheon and ceremony at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in Hattiesburg.

The PREPS value-added analysis began in June 1997 and allows for valid comparisons of education performance on the prior year’s state testing while taking into account the impact of differences in the socioeconomic background of the students considered in the research. The model is used in the PREPS program to identify high performing schools among Mississippi’s public school districts that are members of the PREPS consortium.
Bovina, Bowmar and Redwood each earned the PREPS award in both ELA and math.
