William Billy “Bill” Combs Sr., died Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland. He was 52.

Mr. Combs was born in Vicksburg to the late Fannie Mae Combs. He served in the U.S. Army/Reserve and the Army National Guard. He also worked with the Vicksburg Police Department as a sergeant for many years. He received many honors and awards in his capacity as an officer and he did what he always loved to do and that was to serve.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Mae Combs; grandmother, Lucy Spates; two sisters, Nancy Watkins and Janice Lee; and four brothers, Jimmy Lee, Eunice Combs, Robert Lee and Thomas Spates.

Survivors include his son, William B. Combs Jr., of Vicksburg; two sisters, Florence Slaughter of Dallas, Texas and Mary Russell of Atlanta; three brothers, Dennis McClain of Jackson, Nathaniel Combs and John Lee, both of Minnesota, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2019, at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 14, 2 19, at Lakeview Funeral Home from 1-7 p.m. with the family present from 6-7 p.m.
