Woman gets probation for sexual battery on teenager

A Utica woman received a suspended sentence and was placed on probation after pleading guilty in 9th District Circuit Court to sexual battery by a person in position of trust and authority involving a person between the ages of 14 and 18.

Circuit Judge M. James Chaney suspended the 5-year prison sentence for Candi Michelle Dawson, 41, 1000 Glass Road, Utica, pending successful completion of five years supervised probation. She was also ordered to pay $3,884.50 in fines fees and restitution.

Dawson was indicted during the January term of the Warren County grand jury. The indictment accused her of using her position “as the victim’s Sunday school/youth minister and/or guardian/mother figure,” to have sex with the victim.

In other cases:

• Joshua Andrew Rush, 34, 305 Bazinsky Road, non-residential burglary, five years in prison with two to serve and three years post-release supervision. He was also ordered to pay $7,277.83 in fines, fees and restitution.

• Keuntey Laquarlin Ousley, 20, 173 Day St., Rolling Fork, vehicle burglary, five years in prison suspended pending completion of five years post release supervision. He was ordered to pay $1,919 in fines, fees and restitution.

• Terry Wooten, 38, 311 Blake Drive, non-residential burglary, placed under the supervision and jurisdiction of the 9th Circuit District Drug Court. He was ordered to pay $3,384.50 in fines fees and restitution.

• Tana Starnes, 22, 1108 Nuttingham Road, possession of methamphetamine, placed under the jurisdiction and supervision of the 9th Circuit District Drug Court for five years. She was ordered to pay $1,884.50 in fines, fees and costs.

• Felicia Myers, 36, no address given, fraudulent statements and representations, placed on 60 months supervised probation and ordered to pay $16,930.01 in fines fees and restitution.
