United Way collecting cleanup items for flood victims

Floodwaters continue to inundate portions of Warren County, and in particular the backwater area, which means once the waters recede, the clean up can begin.
As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, the backwater level stood at 96.81 feet and is still projected to reach 97 or 97.5 feet.
The United Way of West Central Mississippi, which has been in close communication with Warren County Emergency Management officials, is taking the initiative to help those that are going to need it most in the aftermath of the flood.
The UWWCM is requesting items to be donated for the cleanup effort be dropped off at their office, 920 South Street, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., or at Delta Outfitters, 940 U.S. 61 North, Monday-Saturday, 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The United Way is requesting donations of clothing at this time, but only the following cleanup supplies:
•Bleach
•Pine Sol
•Lysol
•Comet/Ajax
•Trash bags
•Detergent (laundry and dish)
•Fabric softener
•Mops
•Mop buckets
•Cleaning gloves
•Bug spray/insect repellent
•Cleaning masks
•Cleaning rags
•Push brooms
•Walmart gift cards
•Kroger gift cards
