J. C. ‘Jimmie’ Brown

J. C. “Jimmie” Brown died Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 84.

Jimmie was born in Vicksburg on May 28, 1934, the son of William Andrew Brown and Novella Hill Brown.

In school he was also known as “Cornbread” to his classmates. He served in the U. S. Navy as machinist mate petty officer 3rd class.  He worked as a pulpwood buying yard manager in Tchula and Vicksburg, as a machinist at Marathon LeTourneau, as a heavy-duty truck technician at Falco Lime and in the Building Maintenance Department at the City of Vicksburg.

He enjoyed woodworking, taking pictures and making home movies. He loved gospel music, reading his bible and going to church. He had a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir.  He loved his family and his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dee Dean “Brownie” Brown; his grandson, Aaron Caleb Ezra Brown; and granddaughter, Naomi Grace Wagner.

He is survived by his wife, Floyce Birdsong Brown; sons, Randy Glenn Brown (Karen), Perry Dean Brown (Kelli), Billy Jay Brown, Jamie D. Brown (Sheila); daughter, Desria Brown Wagner; 8 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his stepsons, K B Brown Jr. (Deborah), Mike Brown (Angel); stepdaughters, Cindy Craft and Stacy Henson (Gary) and numerous step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Glenwood Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Burns and Bro. Brian Parker officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of the service.

Burial will follow in Edwards Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Brown, Timothy Brown, Philip Brown, K B Brown, Mike Brown and Dale McDuff.  Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Brown, Wesley Brown, Richard Brown, Dr. Jody Wilson and Mark Chaney.
