Vicksburg National Military Park has reopened most of the park tour road to visitor traffic. Visitors can now tour most of the park.

The areas open are Union Avenue to Old Graveyard Road, all of Confederate Avenue within the park, and the South Loop Confederate Avenue between Old Graveyard Road and Fort Hill is two way traffic. The main park visitor center, the USS Cairo Museum, the Vicksburg National Cemetery, and South Fort, Louisiana Circle, and Navy Circle are open during normal business hours.

“Our maintenance did a great job clearing the roads so we could reopen for park visitors” said Superintendent Bill Justice.

Union Avenue between Old Graveyard Road and the USS Cairo Museum and Grant and Sherman Circles remain closed to all visitor vehicles and pedestrians.
