Boone named Post publisher
Catherine G. Boone has been named president and publisher at Vicksburg Newsmedia LLC, will assume those duties in early June.
Vicksburg Newsmedia publishes The Vicksburg Post, VicksburgPost.com and Vicksburg Living magazine and owns and operates Signs First and Speediprint.
Boone is a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., a 2014 graduate of Rhodes College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Religion.
She comes to Vicksburg from Frankfort, Ky., where she has worked the last two years as general manager of The State Journal. Before that, Boone worked at The Oxford Eagle and The Natchez Democrat. All are part of Boone Newspapers Inc., as is Vicksburg Newsmedia. Boone is a director of Boone Newspapers.
“I am humbled by this opportunity and look forward to being an active member of the Vicksburg community,” Boone said. “I am pleased to join The Vicksburg Post and continue the staff’s good work in producing quality publications that inform readers, showcase our communities and serve advertisers.”
Jan Griffey, who has worked at The Vicksburg Post since August 2015 and served as general manager for the last three years, has been named general manager of The Natchez Democrat. She will spend time in both Vicksburg and Natchez the rest of April and May.
Griffey will transition to her new Natchez job fully after May and after Boone is in Vicksburg.
“I have fallen in love with everything about Vicksburg, and will miss this dedicated, talented newspaper staff, our newspaper readers and the many friends I have made while working and living here,” Griffey said. “While I am excited I will be returning to my hometown newspaper, I will miss the positive spirit of this community and the many who are doing the hard work to make certain Vicksburg’s future is bright.
“The Post and our products here will be left in good hands when Catherine arrives. I have worked with Catherine since she was an intern in college and later in Natchez and the talent and skills she brings to Vicksburg are exactly what we need. I am excited to see what she and our staff will accomplish together.”
Later this month, Boone will marry Harrison Hadaway of Lexington, Ky., who is a native of Macon, Miss. After closing out Catherine’s work in Frankfort and Harrison’s in Lexington, the couple will live in Vicksburg.
