Martha Turner Simmons

INVERNESS — Martha Turner Simmons, 89, of Inverness, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Walter B. Crook Nursing Facility in Ruleville.

Martha was born on Nov. 18, 1929, in Greenwood to Robert and Maude Brown Turner. She worked as a teacher’s assistant for Inverness Elementary School and later was the librarian for the Inverness Public Library.

Martha touched a lot of lives during the time she spent at Walter B. Crook. She was a very caring person and always worried about her children and grandchildren. Martha took care of all the stray animals that were brought home by her daughter and granddaughter. She loved the Lord and loved to read. Martha was member of First Baptist Church in Inverness.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Jason.

Martha is survived by two daughters, Lynn Jacobs and her husband Bill of Inverness, Katherine Willis and her husband Barry of Gluckstadt; one son, Crosby S. Simmons III of Inverness; daughter-in-law, Lynne Gregory Simmons of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Kuykendall Murry, Katie Brooks, Will Jacobs IV and his wife Britney, Robert Belk and his wife Sarah, Harrison Willis and his wife Elizabeth, John Willis and his wife Emmie, Turner Simmons, Beverley Simmons; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Inverness.

Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
