The Vikings’ other entries never got out of the gate.

Brayden Robinson and Gordon Wilkerson lost 6-0, 6-2 to Gulfport’s Ryland Buford and Thomas Healy in the first round.

In girls’ doubles, Jane Hopson and Laney Smith fell 6-0, 6-3 to Oxford’s Catherine Bianco and Cecilia Rayburn.

Only two of the 40 first-round matches on Tuesday went to a third set. All four of the top seeds in the boys and girls singles brackets advanced to the semifinals on Wednesday morning.

The Class 6A tournament concludes Wednesday in Oxford with the semifinals and championship matches in each bracket.
