CONYERS, Ga. — Mr. Walter L. Carter Jr., 65, passed May 9, 2019.

Mr. Carter was born in Warren County to the proud parents of Mr. Walter Lawrence Carter Sr. and Mrs. Vivian Earl Carter, who both preceded him in death.

He grew up in a loving home with one sister, Helen Carter Palmer, who preceded him in death, and one brother, Gary Mitchell Carter of Vicksburg.

Walter joined the U.S. Air Force in in 1972.  He served at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana and toured Insilik, Turkey.

Walter married his high school sweetheart and wife of 47 years, Georgia Murphy.

To this union were created three children, Katina Latrice Carter, Decatur, Ga., Kimberly Carter Roland (Jamaal Sr.), Conyers, Ga., and Keleshia (Keke) Carter, Tucker, Ga.

He is also survived by six grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.

A celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home South DeKalb Chapel.

Interment will be 1 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive. Canton, Ga.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 21, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the South DeKalb Chapel.
