Development at CERES promising

Ceres Industrial Park sits more than 15 miles from the hustle and bustle of Vicksburg, and with the exception of the hundreds who go to work at industries located in the park, most of what goes on in the park goes unnoticed.

That is changing.

Thursday, government and economic leaders joined officials with Love’s Travel Shops to break ground on a new facility to be built at Ceres.

This news, in addition to the recent grant awarded by the Mississippi Development Authority for work helping the park become more competitive, is further evidence of the speed by which economic leaders in Warren County are working.

For the better part of the past two years, Vicksburg and Warren County have appeared more organized, more willing and agressive to be a player in economic development in the state of Mississippi.

Those serving on the Port Commission, the Economic Development Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce — along with the backing of the Warren County Board of Supervisors and the Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Alderman — have put Warren County in a position to compete for new industries and that work is paying off.

We applaud the soon arrival of Love’s to Ceres and congratulate our team on inching our community ever forward.

Well done.
