Milton Dean Richardson, age 68, of Vicksburg, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at his home with his wife of 43 years, Sue, by his side.

Milton was born May 26, 1951, in Louisville to the late Edgar M. and Claudine E. Richardson.

He graduated from Louisville High School, where he was active and lettered in the band. He was also an Eagle Scout and attended the Boy Scout Jamboree in Philmont, N.M.

Milton graduated from East Central Junior College in Decatur, where he participated in the marching, concert and stage bands. After graduation, he went to work at the Vicksburg District Corps of Engineers in the Survey Branch.  He later transferred to the Inspection and Evaluation Section, Engineering Division.

Milton introduced computer-aided drafting to the Vicksburg District and supervised the installation of CADD work station and guided the training program.

He furthered his education in computer technology by attending courses at Hinds Community College, Louisiana State University, Mississippi State University and Colorado State University, receiving awards and accolades in his outstanding career in the field of computer science.

After being promoted, he transferred to the Engineering Development Research Center (ERDC) (WES).  Milton later retired from ERDC to pursue a career with Michael Bakker Engineering and Consulting Firm.  He retired in 2011.

After retirement, Milton obtained his real estate sales license for the state of Mississippi and joined his wife’s firm, Key Real Estate.

He and his wife enjoyed boating, camping and fellowship with their friends.  Milton was also a member of the Gold Wing Motorcycle Association, enjoyed playing golf, and enjoyed the “challenge” to fix what was considered unfixable.  He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Claudine Richardson; grandparents, Clay and Nettie Richardson; grandparents, John Samuel and Rasprisea Azzielene Edwards.

Milton is survived by his wife, Sue Lofstrom Richardson of Vicksburg; his brother, John David Richardson (Brad L. Dailey) of Palm Springs, Calif.; aunt, Bonnie R. Cunningham (Wallace) of Little Rock, Ark.; aunt, A. Ruth Rogers of Louisville; and numerous cousins.

Pallbearers are Christopher Lofstrom, Honorable Dewey Arthur, Dr. Casy McNemar, Karen Creel Ladnier, Cory McNemar, and Jonathan Whitehead.

Honorary pallbearers are the Information Technology Center at ERDC (WES); Engineer Division, Vicksburg District; John Hood, Edward Huell, Jack Smith, Luther Newton, Jim Hearn, and Alias Arrendondo.  Also Dr. Mark D. Anderson, Mrs. Alecia McAlpin, and Dr. Paul Pierce, III.

A special thanks is given to the Kindred Care Hospice — CeeCee, Rita, Amanda, Tony, and the Rev. Harris.

Milton and his wife could have never managed the difficulty of this disease without the loving care and unconditional support of his personal caregiver and dear friend, Linda McCammon and husband Danny and their family.  Memorials may be made to Shreveport, LA Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital.

Visitation will be Monday, June 3, 2019, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Riles Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Riles Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg.  The Rev. John Luckie from Ashland, Ala., a longtime friend, will officiate the services.
