Rosa Bell Jones

Funeral services for Rosa Bell Jones will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Mount Heroden Baptist Church with the Rev. L. A. Hall officiating.

Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jones passed away June 11 at Hospice Ministries following a brief illness.  She was 95.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eliza Amos and Beatrice Phelps; her husband, Willie Jones; stepson, Willie Lee Jones Jr.; brothers, Dit Phelps, Elijah Phelps; niece, Tommiezine Walker; nephews, William Phelps and Herbert Phelps; and sister Shirley Gilliam.

She is survived by her sister Willie Mae “Trudy” Spencer of Madison; nieces, Gwendolyn Spencer Prater (Wesley) of Madison, Bernadine Rise (Vincent) of Sarasota, Fla., Linda Smith of Vicksburg and Toya Nix (Tyrone) of Murfreesboro Tenn.; nephews, Charles Phelps, Barry Phelps and Sammie Rainey(Janett Sue), all of Vicksburg;  brothers, Benson Sims (Frankie) of Chicago, Ill., Louis Phelps (Laverne) of Kennesaw, Ga. , William Phelps (Carlene) of Lakeview , Ga., and Michael Phelps (Patricia) of Vicksburg; sisters, Bobbie Bradford of Chicago, Ill.,  Lois Claiborne of Detroit, Mich., Gloria Devereux of Lithonia , Ga., and Willie Jean Davis (Alejandro) of Vicksburg; special great-nieces, Djenaba Prater of Madison, Denise Coleman of Houston, Texas, Melissa Rice of Laurel , Md., and Danielle Phelps of Vicksburg.

Special great-nephews, Wesley Spence Prater (Rhea) of Madison, Lawrence Walker (Trish) of Delaware, Ohio, Brain (Melva) of Austin, Texas, Derrick Rainey Sr. (Lisa) of Vicksburg and Darryl Rice of Reston, Va.; special great-grandnephews, Aden Prater Swan and Ellison Prater Swan; and great-grandnieces, Baleigh Adams and Lily Claire Prater, all of Madison.
