Hunt’s name and information was released Monday after her family was notified.

Sgt. Bobby Jones, with the Vicksburg Police Department, said the investigation into the accident showed that Hunt was either standing in the road at the time she was struck or stepped out into traffic.

The investigation also showed Hunt was a patient at the hospital at the time she was struck by a 2018 Nissan Altima. The driver of the Altima called 911.

Jones said no wrongdoing was found during the investigation and that the event was a “tragic accident.”

When contacted for information regarding Hunt, Leigh White, spokesperson for Merit Health River Region, said “HIPAA regulations and other patient privacy considerations prevent us from commenting at this time.”
