Woman charged with felony embezzlement

A Tallulah, La. woman is charged with felony embezzlement in the theft of more than $56,000.

Haley O’Briant, 128 Hunter Drive, Tallulah, is accused of taking the money from the law firm of Varner, Parker, & Sessums, 1110 Jackson St. She was released on a $150,000 bond.

According to police reports, the theft was reported Oct. 4. O’Briant was arrested on the charge Wednesday. The matter has been turned over to the Warren County grand jury.

In other cases:

• An unknown quantity of tee shirts with a total value of $50 was reported taken Tuesday from Hair It Iz, 1614 Bodley St.

• A 40-inch television, two laptop computers, a Samsung tablet, PlayStation 360, gold chain and $500 were reported missing from a home in the 2700 block of Alcorn Drive.
