Vivian Geraldine Sorenson Faulk

Vivian Geraldine Sorenson Faulk died Oct. 17 at the home of her daughter.

Vivian was born to Lona Ruby and Marius Sorenson on Dec. 28, 1920 in Ashby, Minn. When she was 4, the family of five and their dog, Pep, left the cold of Minnesota for the warmth of Florida, but ran out of resources in Vicksburg and settled here.

She graduated from Jett High School and attended Mississippi State College for Women.

In 1941 she married Alfred Faulk.

After her daughter started school she worked with him first at Farmers Supply Company, and then when they purchased all the shares of the company, Faulk’s Farm and Garden Shop until his death in 1995. She continued working there until the age of 90, when she turned over her keys and retired.

She and Alfred traveled all over the United States, and then to many places in the world, their first trip overseas being to India.

Vivian is preceded in death by her husband; her brother, Ivan Lavern Sorenson; her sister, Ruby Sorenson Jamison; and her nephews Wayne Jamison and Alec Jamison.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Faulk Williams (Jack); her granddaughter, Sara Harper Johnston (Hugh); a great-granddaughter, Angelina Johnston; and several nieces and nephews, including Carol Jamison of Vicksburg and Jeneva Faulk Pickett (Bob) of Spring Hill, Tenn.

The family wishes to thank Nancy Butler and Katherine Upshire of St. Joseph Hospice for their help and support over the last year and a half.

Services will be Monday, Oct. 21, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Riles Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jack Williams, Ken Harper, Hugh Johnston and Jason Williams.
