Published 4:30 pm Tuesday, November 26, 2019

All it takes is a new toy to get in and hear some of Vicksburg’s talented musicians perform.

The annual Jammin’ for the Kids event, which is a fundraiser that provides toys and gifts to Vicksburg and Warren County children whose parents are incarcerated, will be held Thursday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at The Anthony Restaurant & Bar, 127 Country Club Drive.

This marks the 22nd year for the fundraiser.

“When we first started 22 years ago the turnout was great, but we have only improved more and more each year,” event organizer Kemper Ehrhardt said. “Each year it feels like our venue is more packed than the year before, and this year we are expecting to give over 300 children toys to open on Christmas morning.”

In addition to the musical acts that will perform during the evening, a silent auction will be held as well as a raffle.

Tickets for the raffle are $1.

Ehrhardt said all proceeds from Jammin’ for the Kids will benefit the children and will be distributed by Beyond Walls Ministries, which is affiliated with the Warren County Chaplin’s Office.

Set to perform during the evening include John Howard Dennis, Lee H. Abraham & Friends, Ralph Miller, Patchwork, My Brother’s Kemper Band, Simpatico and other special guests.

Jason Fairchild and Andy Tadlock will provide sound for the night.

“It (Jammin’ with the Kids) really is a passion that I have,” Ehrhardt said. “I couldn’t imagine going to school after the break and not being able to tell my friends what Santa brought to me.”

Admission to the event is a new toy or $5. For more information, call 601-629-2003.
