Judging will begin at 1:30 p.m. and will feature Mad Baker owner Felicia McKnight and Shelly Carr, owner of Shel’s Sweets.

Categories for the competition include: 5-10 years old, 11-15, 16-19, 20-50, 50-plus and “Not a Cookie.” First, second and third-place medals will be presented in each category. The grand prize winner will receive a plaque and their photograph and recipe will be featured in The Vicksburg Post.

And, while the judges are “working” to judge each of the entrants, those visiting will have the chance to get a photograph with Santa Claus, decorate a wreath, play a card game and more. Those attending will also have the chance to sample homemade treats from members of the community.

The Friends of the Library will provide additional snacks, plus hot cider and hot chocolate.

And this year’s event will also feature the first public showing of artwork created specifically for the library by local artist Michael Walker.

Walker is a student at the Savannah College of Art & Design. His work will be displayed in the library’s meeting room during the contest and then later moved to the children’s area.

This event is free and open to the public. Medals and the grand prize plaque are provided by the Friends of the Library.
