Funeral services for Ruby Mae Coleman will be 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, in the chapel of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home the Rev. Timothy Dupre officiating.

Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will Saturday at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. .

Ruby Mae Coleman passed away Jan. 3 in Durham, N.C., following a brief illness.  She was 83.

She was a graduate of Bowman High School.  She was a retired licensed practical nurse, having started her career as a nurse’s aide at Kuhn Memorial State Hospital. She also worked for the Sisters of Mercy and at the Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah, La.

She confessed Christ at an early age at St. Mark Baptist Church in Vicksburg, and then transitioned to St Mary’s Episcopal Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lessie Thigpen and Reuben Warren Sr., and her adoptive parents, Andrew “Jack” and Rose Coleman.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Carolyn (Amos) Ross of Durham, N.C.; her granddaughter, Ashley Ross of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Rose Burns of Chicago, Ill.; and a brother Reuben Warren Jr. of Columbus, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others including members of the Warren, Brown Turner, Kemp Ross, Burns, Thigpen, and Coleman families and her beloved pet Summer.
